Modern waterski and wakeboard boats offer more performance, quality and ease of use than ever before. Like the ski boats of years past they provide the utmost in wake quality by putting out soft and flat slalom wakes for waterskiers and large rampy wakes for wakeboarders and wakesurfers. However, modern ski boats have evolved into so much more. They provide more room, smoother rides and many other amenities never before thought possible. With so many incredible options available, picking one can seem daunting. However, with a little research, finding the perfect boat for your family can be easy and fun. The Midwest is filled with some of the nation’s best lakes and likewise some of the best boat dealers. Specialty ski boat dealers will help ensure you not only choose the perfect boat for your family they’ll help provide you with years of summer fun.
-
When looking for the perfect boat the first thing to consider is what size you need. Check the USCG rating to see the maximum amount of people a boat can safely carry. Getting the right size boat means no one ever gets left behind at the dock. Boating is a social event, don’t forget to include the couple friends who tag along into your capacity needs.
-
Check the boat’s engine configuration. In the past, ski boats came with only a center mounted engine. Today you can choose between a rear mounted, V-Drive or a center mounted direct drive. A V-drive allows for additional seating and storage options. A center mounted engine creates the absolute smallest wake which is most appealing to waterskiers.
- Look at the boat’s options. Many boats now offer cruise control which adds both safety and precision. Additional options such as heated seats, heaters and showers can add warmth to cool summer nights allowing you to get that one last set in before dusk. Having a wakeboard tower installed will not only get you more air it makes a great for racks that hold waterskis, wakeboards and surfer boards. Snap out carpet can make cleaning up after a summer of use much easier compared to non-removable carpet.
