La Crosse WI Region Profile

In an excerpt from Explore La Crosse, current mayor Mark Johnsrud sums things up eloquently on:

"Welcome to La Crosse ... a historic, vibrant city of over 50,000
people, nestled between the bluffs and the Mississippi River.
La Crosse has much to offer. A historic downtown with a flair for
the old but sprinkled with the new. New development has changed
the skyline of our growing city. We are creating jobs and also
enhancing our selection of stores, galleries and restaurants. Our
downtown is bordered by the Mississippi River which attracts visitors
far and wide. An improved riverfront invites people to Riverside Park
for sightseeing, river cruises, biking or just to watch a sunset. We invite you to
share in our hospitality. We are proud of La Crosse. Visit us and I think you will
be proud of our fine city as well."

Great fishing can be found in the La Crosse area as well and the waters there hold northern pike, catfish, walleyes, bass, crappies and sunfish as well as trout in some close-by streams.
