Southeastern MN Region Profile

The Southeastern portion of Minnesota is historic bluff country, traveling south from Red Wing, MN, to Lake City MN you will see these beautiful bluffs as you gaze upon Lake Pepin.

Background Information on Lake Pepin:
The widest part of the Mississippi is Lake Pepin. Twenty miles long, more than two miles wide and 10,500 years old, Lake Pepin was formed by the Chippewa River.
Lake Pepin is located between Bay City, WI and Red Wing, MM on the upstream end and Read's Landing, MN.

Minnesota's southeastern corner is often called "coulee country" for the steep hills and deep valleys. Some have wondered how Grand Marias MN doesn't feel like Minnesota, well Southeastern MN is the same way with its breathtaking scenery. There is great fishing here too, where the big pike are king up north, the trout rule in the southeast, specifically brown trout..

For you biking enthusiasts, book a weekened at a cozy bed and breakfast and bike the hundreds of miles of State Bike Trails in the region such as the Harmony-Preston State Bike Trails only to be pampered with a gourmet meal at night.
